Ferry Park Gallery Artist of the Month for July is Alison Merrin

Ali describes her work as, “Sewing and knitting are my passion, I don’t recall a time when I haven’t been doing either of them.

I’m mostly self-taught from my grandmother who introduced me to many basic skills, and this set me on the path of creating. I love the use of colour and texture giving things dimension.

I moved to the area in 2009 and soon found the Maclean Patchwork and Quilters Group. I had always wanted to learn more about quilting and soon found myself making quilts and using techniques to make other things, such as bags and clothes. I have accumulated so much fabric and own many sewing machines, which became too much for the house. I now have a dedicated studio in the garden which I call my happy space where I spend many hours working.”

Lower Clarence Arts and Crafts Association Inc (LCACA) is a not-for-profit community organisation promoting and showcasing artisans of the Clarence Valley.

LCACA opened Ferry Park Gallery in 1993 for members to display and sell their work. LCACA welcome new members to join us as an exhibitor or volunteer to work in our gallery.
