Dougherty Villa wanted to build a new 20-bed extension to deliver secure residential aged care.

Federal Member for Page Kevin Hogan obtained $1.35 million in extra funding per year to enable this project to go ahead.

Mr Hogan said it was great to attend the official opening of the ‘Waratah Wing’.

“This brings the total number of operational residential places at Dougherty Villa to 74,” Mr Hogan said.

“This new extension is fantastic news for our aged community and those looking for work.”

“This 20-bed extension will create 20 full-time local jobs. These range from nursing to maintenance and hospitality.”

“This project also created 40 local jobs during the construction phase.”

 “These new residential places will allow members of our community to remain surrounded by friends and family – which is where they want to be.”

 “I would like to congratulate Clarence Village for its vision of providing quality services to older members of our community and their families.”
