The developer of the Palm Lake Resort Yamba Shores is a luxury over-50s lifestyle resort has provided the Independent with insight into its 78-home facility plus the two-level country club currently under construction.

When completed Palm Lake Resort Yamba Shores will feature 71 double-storey homes and seven single storey residences on the 4.16-hectare Orion Drive site.

The Palm Lake Works project coordinator said every double-storey home will feature an elevator.

“In relation to accessibility, every double-storey home within the Palm Lake Resort Yamba Shores development, will also include its own elevator, granting easy wheelchair access to the entire home,” the project coordinator said.

“Our two-storey home designs have proven popular with our over-50s homeowners in other Palm Lake Resorts including our sold-out Caloundra Cay development.”

The project coordinator explained the development application changes proposed have been made to optimise solar orientation for homes, maximise views and create natural ventilation corridors.

“These changes also improve the street appeal for Orion Drive and will facilitate safer pedestrian and vehicular movements within Orion Drive, significantly improving our homeowners’ accessibility to their homes, the Country Club and to and from the site,” the project coordinator said.

Constructing Master Builders Association award-winning Country Clubs was part of Palm Lake’s proud history, the project coordinator said, and the two-level facility proposed for the Yamba Shores project was sure to impress.

“At the Country Club’s ground level, there will be a large lounge and dining area, kitchen, cinema and wellness wing including outdoor resort pool and spa, yoga/Pilates room and a modern gymnasium,” the project coordinator said.

“Upstairs, homeowners will enjoy a billiards and bar space that will open onto an outdoor terrace, as well as a lounge, library, craft and other multipurpose spaces.

“These types of facilities have traditionally, across the Palm Lake Group, provided places for likeminded homeowners to congregate, socialise and form new friendships.

“Our Country Clubs are an integral extension of our residents’ homes and help to keep them socially engaged, active and healthy.

“The Country Club will be for the private and exclusive use of future homeowners living in this resort and will not be open to the general public, although our homeowners can invite their friends and family members to join them there.”

Footpath works around the site will commence this month.

“Palm Lake Works has provided the necessary contributions to Council for the new footpath works, along Orion Drive, to commence this month,” the project coordinator said.

“Council opted to complete these works due to their wanting to increase the width of the footpath.

“Palm Lake Works has recently obtained approval from Council for internal road names that celebrate the local Yamba history.

“We’ve had very positive and transparent meetings with Council officers and are working with Council to deliver the footpath works.

“Council officers have also recently commended Palm Lake Works on the neatness and tidiness of the civil works currently under construction.”

“Council officers have expressed they are impressed with Palm Lake’s amended proposal and can see the effort being made to provide significant improvements to urban design, architectural built form and accessibility for seniors.”
