Council nominated for two NSW Youth Week awards

Community Development Officer (Youth) Allira Newton was all smiles when she represented Clarence Valley Council as a finalist in two categories at the 2022 Local Government Week Awards held in Sydney on August 4.

Allira spearheaded Council’s activities for Youth Week 2022, leading to nominations for most Inclusive Youth Week Program and Best Local Youth Week Program.
Despite the Clarence Valley experiencing one of its biggest flood events on record just three weeks before Youth Week (4-14 April) started, 12 events were delivered across the LGA with more than 780 young people and community members joining in the celebrations.

“To see young people coming together, being social and having fun after two years of Covid isolation and recent floods was priceless,” Allira said. “Youth Week was their time to shine, and that they did!”

During Youth Week 2022, CVC partnered with Grafton Regional Library, Mudyala Aboriginal Corporation, The New School of Arts Neighbourhood House, Bulgarr Ngaru Youth Service, Big River Youth Connections, Clarence Valley Youth Hubs, Headspace Grafton, Changing Lanes Changing Lives, The Buttery, Social Futures, Solid Mob, Momentum Collective and Grafton Midday Rotary.
