Maclean Veteran Golf treasurer Peter Hamilton has presented the Maclean Lower Clarence Hospital Auxiliary (MLCHA) with a cheque for $1000, to go towards a new ultrasound machine for the hospital.
Mr Hamilton said that the money raised, was the proceeds from their recent ‘Week of Golf’.
“We had around 150 participants from all over NSW and Victoria, who took part in the event,” Mr Hamilton said.
“The Auxiliary do such a great job for the Maclean Hospital.
“The machinery and equipment that they have purchased, is incredible. It’s a state of the art hospital now,” he said.
MLCHA treasurer Rita Nutt said that they greatly appreciate the donation, from the Maclean Veteran Golfers.
“This cheque for $1000 takes us to over $94,000, which has been raised since the end of November 2018,” Rita said.
“This is because of the generous donations from community groups, charities, the Lions clubs and everyone; they’ve all been fantastic.
“Some of the other recent donations to the hospital auxiliary have come from the Maclean Golf Club charity day which was held last month and raised just over $1000 and the Iluka Rotary Club’s recent quilt raffle, which raised over $1400,” she said.
MLCHA secretary Trish Bowes said that the ultrasound machine which is their current project, will cost $148,000.
“I want to say thank you to all our members for their assistance with the trolley’s etc,” Trish said.
“We’d also like to let the community know of some of our upcoming fundraising events: we have a Lamington drive coming up, a movie day ‘Downton Abbey’ at the Yamba Cinema on Thursday September 12, ‘Are you Game’ – board games and card games etc day at Treelands Drive, Yamba on Friday September 20 at 2pm – cost is $10 and includes lucky door prize and afternoon tea.
