The Clarence Valley Filipino-Australian Community Club Inc is inviting locals to join them in a colourful display of cultural festivities this weekend as they celebrate the 124th anniversary of Philippine Independence Day on June 12.

The annual event commemorates the declaration of Philippine independence from Spain in 1898 after being a part of the Spanish colony for more than 300 years.

Jeanet Bodimeade from the Clarence Valley Filipino-Australian Community Club Inc is warmly inviting Clarence Valley residents to join in the celebrations at the South Grafton High School auditorium for a day of traditional Filipino food, music and dancing.

The festivities will also include a traditional Philippine costume competition.

Doors open at 11:30am.

Admission is $5 for members and $10 for non-members.
