Clarence Valley remembers Margaret McKenna

Emma Pritchard

Tributes have flowed for former Clarence Valley councillor and local businesswoman Margaret McKenna, who sadly passed away last month following a period of ill health.

Known for her passionate community spirit, Ms McKenna served as a councillor from 2008 until 2016, and was highly regarded for her proficiency and unwavering dedication to her role.

Born and raised in Grafton, she was educated at McCauley Catholic College and went on to have a successful career as a prominent accountant prior to purchasing and renovating Walkers Marina Hotel in South Grafton.

Current Clarence Valley Council (CVC) Mayor Ian Tiley and Councillor Karen Toms previously served alongside Ms Mckenna on council.

Describing her as a very committed and very competent councillor who loved the cut and thrust of debate, Mayor Tiley said it was devastating to learn of her recent passing.

“She made very substantial contributions to the Clarence Valley community, and she will be sadly missed,” he said.
