Clarence Valley a popular pick for tourists

Emma Pritchard

The Clarence Valley has once again proved to be a popular choice for tourists during the summer months.

Recently, several visitors shared some of their holiday highlights with the Clarence Valley Independent, and revealed they would happily recommend the area as a travel destination to their friends and family.

Janette Carrillo: I recently got in touch with some of my 1970s school friends on Facebook who live in the Clarence Valley, and they invited me to visit during the Christmas/New Year period. I live on the outskirts of Melbourne, and I’ve never travelled to this part of Australia before. It’s been such an eye-opening experience. My friends have taken me to swim at Wooli and Brooms Head, I’ve explored Yuraygir National Park, and I had such a wonderful time walking around Grafton and observing all of the old, historical buildings. I can’t believe I never considered visiting the area before, but I will definitely be visiting again, maybe during the Grafton Jacaranda Festival this year if I’m lucky. I’d definitely recommend the Clarence Valley as a holiday destination.

Lauz Papastefanou: I live on the Central Coast, and I’ve always wanted to visit the Clarence Valley. I’ve heard so much about it from friends who live here and some of my workmates who have visited in the past. I loved exploring Iluka, Yamba, and Angourie, and I spent some time wandering around Maclean and Ulmarra as well. I loved looking at all the boutique stores in the area and I’ve taken millions of photos of the Clarence River. It’s such a beautiful part of the world. I can definitely see why so many people come here for their holidays.

Perry Mitchell: My partner and I brought our grandkids to Yamba for an early Christmas holiday. We all live inland, between Tamworth and Muswellbrook, so it’s quite a novelty for all of us to come to the beach. Our grandkids are aged between seven and 11, and they’re too busy arguing over what beach they think is the best. Personally, Main Beach at Yamba has become my favourite. It’s very clean, easily accessible. We’re already planning a return visit during the next school holidays, and we’ll be telling all our friends to come here as well.

Yan Mi Hua Cheng: I am visiting Australia from China with my family, and we visited Yamba for two days before Christmas. It was very beautiful. We went to Main Beach and walked along the sand. It was very relaxing. We will be telling our family and friends in Shenzhen to visit Yamba when they come to Australia in March.

Trista Ekelund: I live on the Gold Coast, and I usually spend the Christmas/New Year holidays in Byron Bay, but this time I decided to head further south. I spent a few days in Yamba before Christmas and then I headed to Minnie Water. I’ve always loved spending time at the beach, and after hearing so many rave reviews about the beaches in the Clarence Valley I decided I had to come and check them out. They’re all amazing, especially around Yamba. I’ll be highly recommending the Clarence Valley as a place to visit to all my friends and family.
