Bushwalking

What beautiful weather we are experiencing here in paradise and what a perfect time for our U3A’s next bush-walk/beach-walk.

The planned walk is approximately 11.5 kms, mostly along the scenic beaches between Angourie and Broom’s Head. Keep in mind there are a couple of steep stretches and stairs without handrails so bring your walking pole (if you have one), along with water, sunscreen, hat, a packed lunch, $5 bus fare and most importantly, your smile! For further information check out our CRU3A Facebook page and if you’re interested give Ian a call on 0418 238 282 to register your interest. It should be a great day!

Photography Group

A reminder that the monthly meeting of this group is this afternoon, Wednesday June 28. It is our last meeting at Treelands Drive Community Centre.

Men’s/Women’s Shed

This week I had the absolute pleasure of meeting Jo and Kate from the Women’s Shed in Townsend. These delightful ladies would love you to join them in their Mosaic and Leadlighting Group each Wednesday. You can make anything from a small suncatcher to a stained-glass window or use your artistic skills to create your own mosaic pot plant holder, vase or fruit bowl. You can even bring your own craft along and just enjoy the company of these entertaining ladies. Call Kate if you’re interested on 0401 016 283.

Whilst on the topic of news at the Men’s/Women’s Shed, I hear that some of our talented woodworkers donated the winner’s and runner’s up trophies for the North Coast Junior Barista competition run by the North Coast Community College. There were also some beautifully crafted wooden trays and pens for prizes. A perpetual shield was also donated. Members of our group presented trophies and had a great day supporting these young people in developing skills for future employment. Well done to all involved!

If you’d like to check out our Men’s Shed (and have a break from the missus!) or repair that broken furniture, contact Alan on 0427 746 482 or Brent on 0488 643 332.

In the words of the great Harry Chapin, (“…and the year keeps rolling by!”)

Hard to believe that it’s tax time already. Which reminds me of a joke. What do accountants use for birth control? Their personality! Aww not nice!

I could swear my accountant smiled at me this week, but perhaps it was my “coffee moustache and smile” from the brew just before our meeting!

Keep smiling and have a happy week.
