Clarence River U3A

“When you’re alone and life is making you lonely, you can always go “… and join a friendly U3A group. There’s something for everyone!

This Wednesday February 22 our Photography Group resumes. We’ll be discovering photos within photos (should be very interesting). The theme for this month is Landscapes / Seascapes where we’ll examine photo composition and camera settings. The participants range from beginners to experienced photographers who readily share their knowledge. If you love taking photos, and wish to improve your skills, this just might be the group for you.

Last week our intrepid Bushwalking Group walked the beautiful Iluka Rainforest walk to the Bluff and along the beach to Woody Head. Afterwards, the Iluka Bowlo bus transported the walkers to the club for a lovely, well-earned lunch and drink. A great day was enjoyed by all. See the photos on the U3A Facebook page.

Another active group which has been operating for a while now is weekly Pickleball. A keen participant described it to me as “a cross between badminton and table tennis with a different bat and plastic ball bigger than that used for table tennis. I love Pickleball because it’s good exercise,  I can play to my own ability, and it keeps my mind alert and improves my reflexes.” Sounds great!

An ABC program on the weekend said, “Retirement can lead to social isolation and loneliness, or new friends and finding purpose and enjoyment in life.” Your choice.

Just a reminder to wear your name badge when you attend your groups, as many of us don’t have the wonderful memories we used to. If there is still anyone who has paid their subscription and hasn’t yet received their badge, please let your group leader know and we’ll get you another. If you have any questions call 0432 563 713.
