Chatsworth Island CWA Branch Closure after 93 years

A gathering of members was held on Wednesday September 4 to finalise details for closing the Chatsworth Island CWA Branch and all official details of the branch closure having been handled by official channels.

In spite of our best efforts, we members of the branch found it impossible to elect an executive committee, so the decision was made to disband…. a very hard decision as the Chatsworth Island CWA Branch has been part of the Lower Clarence scene for 93 years, doing what CWA does, helping out in emergencies, raising awareness of local interest, fund raising for local charities including our local hospital, CWI school, helicopter service, fire brigades, Salvation Army to name a few.

When vacating our rooms at Chatsworth Hall, our goods and equipment was as much as possible gifted to other branches. Our remaining members will not be lost to CWA, they will be choosing to move to our other local branches at Maclean, Yamba, and Iluka.

Many thanks to the CV Independent and the previous newspapers for publicising our events and activities over the many years.
