Brushgrove golf

Despite the Covid-19 restrictions, we had a good turnout of members for a Stroke game at Grafton last Sunday.

Results

The winner on the day was Graeme Smith with a nett 31. Torin Leek took second place with 33. Third to Colleen Ortlipp (37) and fourth to Tim Petterson (39) on a c/b from Smithy.

Longest drive to Rodney Want (men) and Colleen (women). Rodney also captured NTP.

Graeme Reti did not leave much room between his ball and the pin to win drive & pitch. Least putts to Smithy with 14 putts. Thank you to Mark Harvison (Pro) who always looks after us at Grafton.

To add a bit of extra flavour to the day I introduced the 2-person Lockdown game played in conjunction with our normal game. This is a twist on the 2-person Ambrose, devised to allow a team event when groups are limited to two people. After the game, a player from one group is matched randomly with a player from another group. Scoring is simple in that gross scores for the two partners are averaged, likewise their handicaps are also averaged. Team nett = averaged gross – averaged handicap. The team of Judy Want and Torin Leek won with a nett 37. The team of Colin Want and Smithy (401/2) came in second after a c/b from Colleen Ortlipp and Peter Jones.

Our next game will be at Iluka on September 26. Full details in a future email to members. Hopefully, restrictions will ease by then and we can have a sausage sizzle after the game.
