Another $40,000 for Coraki River work

Rous County Council has for the second time this year won a $40,000 Nationals in NSW Government grant for its Coraki Riparian Project, Clarence Nationals MP Chris Gulaptis has announced.

“The Coraki Riparian Project has about restoring high priority Richmond River banks north and south of Coraki, improving waterway health and fish habitat. It involves fishers and the community and enhances access to the river,” Mr Gulaptis said.

“The Nationals in NSW Government are providing funds to engage indigenous land owners and the wider community to mitigate erosion through revegetation along the Richmond River,” Mr Gulaptis said.

Minister for Local Government Shelley Hancock said the NSW Government is focused on delivering technical know-how to councils.

“We will continue to work in partnership with councils and local communities to manage the coast which is home to nearly 85 per cent of our population,” she said.
