A bright new year for Yamba Lions

Yamba Lions Club held their Carols by Candlelight at Bowlo Sports & Leisure Yamba prior to Christmas, where the raffle was drawn. The winner of the hamper was John Govern, 2nd prize to Sue Ellen Francis and 3rd to Adele Liddle. This raffle is conducted for the Club each year by Lion Stella Jackson and the funds raised will go to Lions Childhood Cancer.
Many thanks to Stella, the ticket sellers and especially, the ticket buyers for supporting this worthwhile cause. A big thank you to all those involved in the Carols, especially Lions Stella and Bill doing the organising, the entertainers and the audience. Of course, the big man in red, Santa, made a surprise visit bringing lollies to all the children.

As usual, the Club has been very busy with their normal activities such as Thursday and Friday night raffles, bingo Monday morning and Tuesday night, monthly markets, Rotary Twilight markets on January 1, and pancakes at a local caravan park on Thursdays of the holidays.

Some members are busy working on the problems which occurred due to the deliberately lit fire of the Club’s storage shed prior to Christmas.

Yamba Lions Club would like to thank all those who have so willing donated towards the restoration and rebuilding of our merry-go-round and train. This will take sometime, as the horses have to be rebuilt by U3a Men’s Shed at Townsend and other local business will help towards the work on the other items.

If anyone would like to know a little more about Lions, please contact our Secretary on 0417 546 097.  Our first meeting for 2020 will be held February 13 at Yamba Bowling Club commencing 7 for 7.30pm.

Happy New Year to you and yours.
