Coutts Crossing croquet

On Monday of last week there was a smaller than usual group for morning GC, with Sheila Foley playing well, but the twilight session upped the total numbers.

Members are still busy with families and grandparenting duties.

In Ricochet, Louise Lowe played at her best to beat Gillian Martin 11-10 with some excellent roqueting.

Midweek, Peter Deeth scored a splendid 14 point peg out in beating Gillian Martin 26-14, after Gillian led till the last few minutes.

Thursday saw numbers up again and very competitive play. Sheila Foley hit a splendid jump shot from an acute angle.

We were pleased to see back Bob Hadley, limping from injury, but playing a few hoops.

On Saturday, Bill Gauci showed what a talent he has hitting two excellent jump shots in one game.

Sunday, saw Gillian Martin hit top form beating Peter Martin 21-18, despite Peter’s 10 hoop turn, while Simon Cook pegged out against Peter Deeth.

The first of the club’s 2022 championships will take place on February 11 between Simon Cook and Peter Martin for the AC championship. The winner will qualify for the NSW Champion of Champions in Sydney later in the year.

Except for members who are ill, all but one of our regular players have returned this year following the problems of lockdowns and La Nina.
