8×8 – Calling all artists

For those lovers of creating and acquiring small artworks, the path has begun for the 2023 Small Works 8×8 competition at Ferry Park Gallery.

Canvases are on sale, ($12 adult and $7 junior) a theme is set, and Lower Clarence Arts and Crafts Association is looking forward to seeing imagination and creativity combine for another exciting display of work.

It is anticipated that the theme, ‘Small Wonders’, will prompt a diverse range of ideas from young and mature participants, with creativity and imagination in abundance, as well as materials and techniques – paint, textiles, collage, needlework, mixed media, glass, resin, ceramics, woodwork, vegetation, recycling – the list is endless. The only restriction lies in the boundary of the 8”x8” canvas: the work can be 3D and emerge from the canvas but cannot exceed the sides.

The Small Works competition is open to children and adults everywhere. It is a go-to competition for local and interstate artists and has a regular following of devotees.

Entries close on Friday, March 17, and the exhibition will open officially on March 31, 2023 (and April 1 for the junior sections). Prize-winners will be announced on these dates. Artworks will be on display until the end of April.

Entry Forms and canvases are available now from Ferry Park Gallery, Maclean.
