Motivated by his desire to encourage more young men to become involved within the local community, Caleb Foster, 14, is proud to be the first boy to nominate as a Junior Jacaranda candidate in the 90 year history of the Grafton Jacaranda Festival.

Born and raised in the Clarence Valley, Caleb attends Clarence Valley Anglican School (CVAS), and as a 2024 Junior Jacaranda candidate he is looking forward to meeting new people and making new friends, expanding his historical understanding of Grafton, and further developing his social and public speaking skills.

In his free time, Caleb enjoys drawing, cooking, crafts, watching movies, and riding his horses, and said being a 2024 Junior Jacaranda candidate in the same year the Grafton Jacaranda Festival celebrates its 90th Anniversary will be an exciting and eye-opening experience.

“Some of my best memories from previous Grafton Jacaranda Festivals are watching the Jacaranda Float Procession, the Crowning Ceremony, the Parade of Youth and Banner Competition, and seeing the whole town become purple,” he said.

“My favourite event to attend at the Grafton Jacaranda Festival is the Crowning Ceremony because it is amazing to see people my age getting involved in the community and being recognised for their achievements.”

Caleb is proudly sponsored by Dougherty Property and said if he is honoured to be crowned during the Westlawn Jacaranda Royal Party Crowning Ceremony on October 26, he will assume the title of 2024 Junior Jacaranda King.
