Iluka residents gathered at the Iluka Community Hall on January 26 to celebrate Australia Day at an event organised by Iluka Woombah Rotary Club.

Long-time Iluka local, John Caldwell was awarded the 2024 Citizen of the Year by Clarence Valley Mayor, Peter Johnstone.

Mr Caldwell has spent many years volunteering in the Iluka community to better the town for both locals and visitors.

His proud family joined in the celebrations and joined his wife and delighted locals who congratulated Mr Caldwell for his service to the community.

Mayor Peter Johnstone proudly spoke about how lucky we are to live in such a beautiful free country and wonderful community, and those who attended enjoyed a delicious morning tea provided by the Iluka CWA.
