2022 Yamba Men’s Pairs Championships commence

Last Saturday witnessed the start of the first Men’s Pairs Championships for 2022 with the first round and semi-finals of the minor pairs played.

The four teams that emerged from the initial rounds and qualified for the semi-finals were Dave Beaumont & Jake Mchutchison, Len Yeomens who teamed up with Keith Smith, Steve Farrar skipped by Paul Lozelle and the father and son combination of Bob & Chris Gunning.

Both semi finals proved to be close affairs with Len Yeomens & Keith Smith having to work hard before overcoming Jake Mchutchison & Dave Beaumont by four shots whilst the other semi was also keenly contested before the Gunning combination were able make their way into the final with a 22 to 16 victory over Steve Farrar & Paul Lozelle.

The final between the Gunning’s & the Smith / Yeomens side has been set down for Saturday May 14 commencing at 1pm and promises to be an evenly contested match with a winner hard to pick from these two quality teams.

The nominations for our Men’s Major / Minor Pairs are now open with a dozen sides already indicating their wish to play in this championship to date.

Nominations close on May 18 and the first round will be played at 9am on Saturday May 28.

Sunday May 8 will see the holding of our Mother’s Day Mixed Triples commencing at 9.30am with the nomination sheet presently posted on the notification board for those interested in playing in this event.

All lady bowlers participating have free entry and also will have the opportunity to win a ladies pamper pack kindly donated by Priceline Pharmacy as well as other small gifts supplied by the Yamba Bowling Club.

To all the wonderful mothers out there in our community the Yamba Bowling Club wishes you a lovely day on Sunday for your special day, ‘Mother’s Day.’
