Yamba women’s bowls

Saturday October 24

It’s a cloudy morning for the 1st Round of the Championship 4’s – with two rinks on the starting line. Luckily, the rain held off and the games were completed.

Joan Scadden’s team of Sharon Moore, Gloria Davis and Janine Boyd easily accounted for Jude Pryor’s team of Sue Lindsay, Vicki Beddow and Marie Stone 25-8. But it was a lot closer on the other rink when team Judy Button – Cheryl Mazoudier, Jame Pearson and Marg Abbott came down to an extra end with team Wendy Ballantyne – Julie Coulter, Val Terry and Kaye Mason. After some wonderful shots by both teams it was Judy Button’s team who emerged victorious 25-21.

Sunday October 25

Down to the semi-finals of the 4’s with teams Chris Cole – Ruth Fletcher, Maria Sakac and Pam Conley vying for a place in the Final on the following day against team Helen Atkinson – Lois Duncan, Julie Beaumont and Carol Ritale. Team Helen was victorious (20-16) and will meet the victor from the game between Joan Scadden’s and Judy Button’s teams which- after a right tussle – produced as the winner – Judy Button’s team (19-16). So, it will be Judy and Helen and teams facing off in the Final.

Saturday October 31 – Club 4’s Championship final

A good close game befitting of a final with all team members showing their determination to win the coveted Championship. At 11 all on 11 ends it was anyone’s game. But Helen and team managed to get a nose in front and hung on to take the Championship Fours 2020 title. Congratulations to all. Well-done to the very great effort from the runners-up – Judy Button and team.

Charity Day Thursday November 5 – don’t forget your spider and come resplendent in red and yellow (just like the helicopter hues).

Hot on the heels will be the popular Shirley Drum Triples -Tuesday 10th and Thursday 12th November.

Also, items for the Christmas hamper (yes – it’s sneaking up on us) would be appreciated.
