Yamba sk8park

Ed,

Fundraising, grants, donations, and plans – revised and revised again.  Mistakes made and lessons learnt but always the optimism and hope that one day ‘the bowl’ the heart of Yamba sk8park would be realised – beating strong.

So, on Saturday July 30, 2022 – 26 years after that 1st meeting through my tears of joy and gratitude the bowl is back to reclaim its rightful place and it’s amazing.  Yeeeuuwww!!!

I take this opportunity to congratulate the working team, whom under Andrew realised this goal.

I pay respects to Yaegl elders, past, present, and emerging on who’s country this sk8park stands.

I acknowledge and thank all those hundreds of supporters, committee members, business and families who reached out and offered their help when tragedy had touched their homes and a child of theirs had died.  Selflessly they wanted to help create a safe, visible place for all children in our town.  You and they are not forgotten.  Thank you to Mayor Ian Tiley and Councillor Karen Toms for standing with us shoulder to shoulder.

I hope everyone takes the time to stop and watch the skill, learning and fun this new extension offers.

I look forward to many future Olympians starting their dream in the heart of Yamba sk8park.

Thank you once again to everyone who helped along the way, its brilliant!
