Yamba pair at NSW State Medal play-off

Jennifer Fagan and Judy Palich were both thrilled after playing in the 2023 Women’s NSW State Medal held at the water and bunker-filled Stonecutters Ridge Golf Club in Colebee last Wednesday.

Both ladies had a fantastic experience with Jennifer placed 4th in Div 1 (78 nett) and Judy tied 10th in Div 3 (84 nett). Congratulations go to both ladies. There were 120 clubs and 10,500 players involved in the 2023 competition which was whittled down to the 54 players from 15 regions who played last week. To have had two players reach the pointy end of the competition was an incredible achievement.

Hot conditions continued for the 45 players in Wednesday’s first Pro Shop ladies’ summer competition and scores indicated solid rounds.

The Div 1 winner was Glen Czarnota (38pts c/b) and the r/up was Kathy Parker (38pts). Ann Schuhmacher (35pts c/b) won Div 2 ahead of Lyn Saggers (35pts c/b) and Noni Rixon (39pts) won Div 3 with Lesley Love (38pts c/b) placed r/up. NTP balls: 3rd – Fiona Smart; 12th – Sandra Russo and Ladies’ 17th (2nd) – Gail Gore-Brown. Balls were awarded to 34pts.

Sweltering heat may have deterred players from participating in Friday’s Pro Shop Medley competition so, with only 33 players, there were two grades.

Jo Rice was the best overall scorer with her round of 40pts. Div 1 winner was Lisa Marsh (39pts) and the r/up was Fiona Smart (36pts). In Div 2, newbie Joanne Rice (40pts) played a blinder to win ahead of Prue McLaughlin (37pts).

NTP balls were won by: Ladies’ 3rd – Lisa Marsh; Men’s 9th – Not awarded and Ladies’ 17th (2nd) – Fiona Smart. The SeaFire $10 vouchers were won by: Men’s 10th – not awarded and Ladies 12th – Glen Czarnota. Balls were awarded to 33pts.

Competition ball rundowns exclude division winners.

Ladies’ competition is held each Wednesday and Friday times are open to men and women. Early times have been added for those who wish to avoid the summer heat.

Winners should visit the Pro Shop to collect ball/s or vouchers as these competitions are sponsored by the Pro Shop (Fitted Golf) and the YGCC.

The Lowe’s cleaned up last Saturday’s competition by winning both the day (Kylie – 32pts c/b) and the NTP SeaFire voucher (Tana) in a field of five players.

Well done to last week’s winners. Happy golfing.
