Yamba Lions return of MGR

On Saturday November 6, members of Yamba Lions Club finally had the joy and excitement of setting up their Merry Go Round (MGR) after its restoration following the fire in the storage shed in November 2019.

The Club was invited to bring the MGR along to entertain the children at the grand opening of the new park at Townsend.

The restoration of the horses was once again done by the Men’s Shed in Townsend and the decorating of the horses was brilliantly carried out by Pat and Pam, two ladies from the Women’s Shed. I believe this gave these ladies something to fill in their days during COVID-19 lockdown. What a wonderful achievement from two very talented ladies.

Normally the MGR is used at fetes and school break-ups, but all have been cancelled again this year due to COVID.  The Lion’s train is also up and ready to go when necessary.  Due to the train being partially destroyed in the storage shed fire, the Men’s Shed built the Club a new carriage to go with the engine carriage donated by Manning River Lions Club.

Lions Bingo is once again in full swing at Bowlo Sports & Leisure Yamba every Monday morning commencing 10 for 10.30am. The numbers have been good, so please keep supporting your community Lions Club.

Our Club would love to see some younger folk; please think about joining a community services club. Visitors are always welcome, so come along 2nd & 4th Thursdays of the month at Bowlo Sports & Leisure Yamba commencing 7 for 7.30pm. For more information, give our secretary Peter a call on 0417 546 097.
