Yamba Bowls Club Fours 2023

Sunday July 23

The final of the Men’s Club Fours and Women’s Club Fours took place side-by-side in rather challenging conditions. An icy wind tested the drawing skills of many of the players, but all bowlers were out for the coveted title, and everyone gave their all.

In the Men’s section it was a game of catch-up for Tracey Jenner and his team of G. Fifield, G. Johnson, R. Smidt with the scoreline sitting at 15-7 on the 14th end – only to pick up 7 shots on the 15th end bringing the score to 1 the difference.

From then on till the end of the game it was a see-sawing affair until Tracey and team picked up a 3 on the 19th end and followed up with 4 shots over the next two ends to take the game 23-17.

On the adjacent rink Lois Duncan and her team of J. Coulter, J. Blair, and K. Gunning held the lead for most of the game and despite the best efforts of Helen Atkinson and her team of M. Parker, D. Prentice, L. McLean, Lois and team took out the title with a 22-12 win.

Winning team for the Women’s Club Fours for 2023 were (L-R) K. Gunning, J. Blair, J. Coulter and Skip L. Duncan.

Congratulations to the winners and all players on the quality of their games.

Thanks must go to the Umpire Wendy Ballantyne and Glen Dickson as Controlling Body.
