What about Australia’s 100%?

Ed,

Our children are 20% of today’s population but they are 100% of the future. And if your decision makers don’t want to have to look for another job after the next election, how long will you have to wait before your decision makers make wise decisions for future generations of your children?

Today you face more frequent and more severe climate emergencies such as extreme flooding, so how long will it be before your decision makers ban future housing estates on the Clarence Valley floodplains?

Artificial Intelligence will increasingly adversely affect labour-intensive employment, so when will your decision makers initiate local, labour-intensive employment programs that will be beneficial both to unemployed people and local floodplains?

How long will it be before the most suitable areas of floodplains are replanted with local native trees, shrubs and groundcovers?

In time these replanted floodplain areas could be used for low-key recreational activities such as bushwalking and birdwatching and would be of great recreational value to both Clarence Valley residents and tourists alike. And your replanted floodplain forests would also be of great value to wildlife that again take up residence in the floodplain homes you have created for them.

What about Australia’s 100%, for the future is what you choose?

Harry Johnson, Iluka
