Two Islands Rowathon set to make a splash for community service

Emma Pritchard

The Grafton Rowing Club will host their annual Two Islands Rowathon on July 15 in support of the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter.

Beginning at 10am, participants will have the option of completing a 10km course around Susan Island, or a 20km course around Susan Island and Elizabeth Island.

Both courses will finish back at the Grafton Rowing Club.

Competitors are required to meet at the Grafton Rowing Club at 9:30am for a briefing prior to commencing the days schedule of events.

The club also wishes to advise that the starter will decide the order and the time each boat will be sent off, and all participants must await the starter’s instructions.

The event is open to all non-powered watercraft including rowers, dragon boat paddlers, kayakers, and surf boats.

Entry is $20 per person and includes a donation to the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter and a complimentary lunch at the Grafton Rowing Club following the event.

Entries close on July 6.

While the Two Islands Rowathon was unable to be held in 2022 due to inclement weather and flooding in the region, the event raised $1020 for the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter in 2021.
