Three new Yamba CAN board members to be elected

A reshuffle of Yamba Community Action Network board positions has resulted in the opportunity for fresh ideas and enthusiasm with three new members to be appointed this week at a community meeting.

Yamba CAN chairman James Lamerton said only seven board members were initially elected, despite the organisation’s constitution permitting a board of between six and eight members.

When two board members recently resigned, Mr Lamerton said the remaining members decided to call a special meeting to elect three new members.

“The constitution resolves that 25 per-cent of the financial members of the organisation can call a special meeting,” he said.

“More than 25 per-cent of the members have called for this special meeting and the only item on the agenda is to fill the two casual vacancies that were caused by the resignation of Alex Devantier and Patricia Concannon, and to fill the one unelected position.”

The meeting to elect three new Yamba CAN board members will be held at the Yamba Golf and Country Club on Thursday, December 8, from 5pm.
