Three fires spread smoke across valley

As winds picked up on Monday morning, smoke spread across the Lower Clarence prompting many locals to question where the fire was.

The NSW Rural Fire Service said there were three fires in the Lower Clarence that saw smoke spread across the region due to gusty winds.

The biggest blaze was in the Yuraygir National Park near Sandon, that was out of control at the time and had burnt out 113 hectares.

Further north at Lake Arragon near Brooms Head a fire that started on Monday had burnt out 21 hectares in the Yuraygir National Park and was being controlled at the time of going to print.

The third blaze that flared up was near Whiporie in bushland off Bungawalbin Whiporie Road at Gibberagee.
