Terry Crowe big winner at Yamba golf

The midweek Stableford attracted 145 golfers on Thursday April 29. The flags were located in some difficult positions on the greens and having three putts was not unusual.

This did not deter a couple of golfers though.

Terry Crowe displayed his skills to win the A Grade voucher with 41 points, from a tenacious Neil Gore-Brown who was r/up with 40. Third place went to Richard Beresford with 37 on a c/b.

A visitor from Nelson Bay, Scott Bell, was the B Grade winner with 36 points. John Ashby and Evan Rice shared the minor placings with 35 points after the c/b separated them.

C Grade saw a bevy of golfers with 34 points. Countbacks saw Keith James declared the winner from Jack Esau and Ross Wilson.

NTP’s: SeaFire 3rd – Wayne Rice; Peter Campbell Physio 9th – Terry Winser 146cm; SeaFire 10th – Bruce Douglas 187cm; 12th Pro Pin – Darren Adams 322cm; Yamba Barber Shop 12th – Graham Coates 289cm and SeaFire 17th Andy Harris 240cm.

The ball rundown extended to 33 points with 15 on the back.

Close to 50mm of rain on Friday turned the golf course into a lake once again, making play impossible. The monthly medal, which was supposed to be played on Saturday has been deferred to Saturday May 7. Remaining matches in the Singles knock-out are also deferred to the 7th.

A reminder too, that there is a 9-hole Stableford medley event played every Tuesday. It is a great way to finish off the day. Names can be entered at the club website in the normal way.
