Last Wednesday’s Single Stableford attracted 51 players. The purple patch continued for Shellee Clare with a solid round of 36 and her 2nd winning round in a week.

Wednesday’s event, the Walter & Eliza Hall Research Institute Charity Day, is one of our major yearly fundraisers. It was originally introduced by the late Audrey Robinson and Audrey’s daughter, Linda Bloch, continues to support the event in honour of her mother by supplying a wonderful raffle which, this year, was won by Janine Zietsch. Our raffle and donation tin raised $383.10 this year.

Wednesday’s A Grade winner was Jane Bonner (35pts c/b) and Barb Moore (35pts) was r/up. In B Grade, Fay Gimenez won with 36pts followed by Carolyn Chester (33pts). C Grade’s winner was Shellee Clare with her score of 36pts beating Lesley Love (34pts).

The NTP sponsors and winners: Sassafras 3rd – Sue Wilson; Yamba Florist, Debbie May 3rd (2nd) – Sandra Russo; Sea Fire Restaurant Voucher 9th (2nd) – Sandra Wallace; Yamba Fair Butchery 10th – Janelle Carpenter; Leonie May Millinery 10th (2nd) – Jane Madden; The Shoe Boutique 12th – Carolyn Aitken; Clovelly Fashions, Maclean 17th – Fiona Smart and The Wobbly Chook 17th (2nd) – Lorraine Coulton. Balls were awarded to 31pts c/b.

In Wednesday’s nine-hole competition, Sandra Dorman won the day with 16pts and Prue McLaughlin won the NTP.
Our regular Friday competition round was not held last Friday due to the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Fundraiser Day.

Saturday’s competition had a large field of 17 ladies, and it was a very excited Sue Skelton (36pts) who took home the winner’s prize. Mary Hogan’s steady golf continued (35pts) as r/up and it was great to see Gwynne Thomas’ name with the best of the scorers (32pts). Gwynne also won the NTP.

Congratulations to all of last week’s winners!

This Wednesday’s round is the 2BBB v Par Qualifier. The top eight pairs will go through to the 1st Round to be held on Friday with the remainder of the field playing Single Stableford. Good luck to our contenders.

Upcoming events for our diaries include the Grafton May Tournament (Wednesday May 24-26) and our 5th Monthly Medal to be held on Wednesday May 31. This medal round will also be a fundraiser hosted and sponsored by Terri Collingburn who will be selling balls and white ribbons in her fundraising efforts for domestic violence prevention. Terri will also be kindly supplying the day’s raffle prize.
