Successful Education Partnerships

cvi-images   Mareeba Aged Care’s partnerships with universities, colleges and local schools are providing opportunities for a range of age-care-related careers, including nursing, hospitality, fitness and pharmacy. Thirty students gained first-hand experience at Mareeba this year including Scott Coleman (pictured), who recently joined on a school-based traineeship to complete his high school studies. The program Scott is undertaking is a joint venture between Mareeba and Sarino Russo Apprenticeships with the aim for Scott to receive first-hand experience in the aged care industry. With their own Nurse Educator on-hand to oversee the students, Mareeba offers a local high school work placement system, training Assistants in Nursing studying Certificate III in Aged Care, in addition to support for Enrolled Nurses, Registered Nurses and pharmacy students. “Our school partnerships in particular are a great way for young people to experience the profession and the many career opportunities available in aged care,” said Mareeba Aged Care Director Steve Gordon.
