Located at the former business address of prominent saddler Bert Layton, the Copmanhurst Museum houses some of the area’s most precious treasures and family mementos.

Managed by a small committee of volunteers, including Leone Roberts, a passionate local historian, the Copmanhurst Museum houses an assortment of historical photos, saddles and bridles, vintage utensils and household items, and clothing which has been generously donated by local families dating back to the early 1900s.

“Everything in the Copmanhurst Museum has a story to tell, and that is what we enjoy sharing with visitors,” Mrs Roberts said.

“People are always interested in history because it always has something to teach us.

“We’re very fortunate this collection has been preserved so it can go on public display.”

The Copmanhurst Museum is located in Prescott Street and is open between 1-3pm on the fourth Sunday of each month, or by appointment by calling 0478 239 274.

Entry is via a gold coin donation.
