As she prepares to represent the Clarence Valley at the Sydney Royal AgShows NSW Young Woman Zone 1 Final in Kempsey this weekend, Shannon Moran is also looking forward to meeting new people, forming new friendships, and encouraging other young women from rural communities to become involved with their local show societies, and see where their journeys take them.

Last year, the 20-year-old from Brushgrove was awarded the title of 2022 Young Woman of the Land at the Maclean Show, and as a proud ambassador for her local region, Miss Moran said she would love the opportunity to represent her community at the State Final during the 2023 Sydney Royal Easter Show if she is successful in Kempsey.

“That would be such a cool experience,” she said.

“Being the 2022 Young Woman of the Land, I’ve learned so much about myself, I’ve pushed myself out of my comfort zone, and I’ve gained so much more knowledge that I want to share with other young rural women.”

Along with her fellow participants in the Sydney Royal AgShows NSW Young Woman Zone 1 Final, Miss Moran will be judged on her volunteer and community involvement, personal presentation, rural knowledge, general knowledge, personality, and confidence, including an onstage interview which accounts for 10 percent of her final score.

“I just want to give it my best shot,” she said excitedly.

“So far, it’s all been a totally amazing experience, and I’m really looking forward to seeing what else happens.”
