Unique Coffs Harbour workshop to reduce depression

TWO Queensland women are running a fundraising workshop in Coffs Harbour on February 18 to help reduce depression, anxiety and suicide rates in the local community.

Australian Institute of Health and Welfare data reveals over one third of deaths for people in Coffs Harbour aged 15-24 in 2020 were suicides.

Suicide rates in indigenous Australians were more than twice that of non-indigenous Australians.

The workshop, Open your Mind to Flourish, run by Angelique Pellegrino from Brisbane and Aldwyn Altuney from the Gold Coast aims to reduce these rates by educating families about how to deal with everyday life challenges and live an empowered life no matter what is happening in the world. Part of the proceeds will go to Lifeline.

The unique workshop will show how to rise above the most difficult situations and create the life of your dreams, no matter what, using your most powerful tool – your mind.

In her presentation, Angelique will show clearly why depression can take over, how to overcome it and make sure it never returns.

Both Angelique and Aldwyn have experienced the impact of depression in their lives. Angelique’s late husband suffered from depression his whole life after being raped as an 11-year-old and Aldwyn has had depression since she was 6 years old after witnessing bullying and animal cruelty. She has also had four friends who have taken their own lives by the age of 45.

“I envision a world where restricted mindsets have been replaced with fully open, limitless and fearless mindsets,” Ms Pellegrino said.

“Being healthy mentally is vital for our communities. Not only does suicide have a profound emotional effect on the ones left behind, like family and friends, but also for the entire community. And let’s not forget those who spend their life paranoid about someone close to them taking their own life.”

According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, 4.5 million patients (17.7% of the Australian population) filled a prescription for a mental health-related medication in 2020-21.

Around one in seven Australian adults take antidepressants daily. For many, they can be a lifeline. Although research suggests they don’t work for some.

The global market of antidepressant drugs was over 13.5 billion USD during 2020.

“The mind is a powerful force. It can enslave us or empower us. It can plunge us into the depths of misery or take us to the heights of ecstasy. Learn to use the power wisely,” David Cuschieri.

Angelique practices Rapid Transformational Therapy (RTT™) which embraces healing modalities based on neuroscience that offers fast, effective results by combining the most beneficial principles of hypnosis, psychotherapy, neuro linguistic programming and cognitive behavioural therapy.

By rapidly rewiring the brain’s neural pathways, RTT™ replaces outdated beliefs and negative behaviour patterns to new updated ones so that people can go from anxiety to feeling really secure and experience more ease and flow in their daily lives.
