Osprey RSL Day Club

You know what? I was sitting here waiting for this blessed computer to warm up and then I realised that it is probably no different to me first thing in the morning!

I wonder if computers have “computer years” like dogs have 7 years to our one; if they do it’s possibly 10 years to our one, which makes my contraption the same age as me! So hence the slow start. Glad I got that sorted.

Well, the first wonderful thing I have to tell you is that we had not one but two new ladies, Helen and Gloria, come along and join us last Friday. I first met Helen out the front of the club, and she was bursting with enthusiasm at the thought of being a volunteer. I just know she will be a delight with her ready smile and outgoing personality. But wait there is more. It was but ten minutes later that Gloria arrived and announced her intention to join us too. I was over the moon. There is nothing better than fresh faces and new personalities to invigorate the room. Welcome to you both, I just know you will enjoy your new adventure.

Last Friday was our last day in the Auditorium as the Club has to cater for its many end of year functions now that Covid is no longer a constraint, and the social scene can resume some sense of normality. So, we will be going to the Boardwalk Bar with its lovely green outlook. It may take us a week or two to iron out a few wrinkles to make everything run smoothly and get you back within your comfort zone. So just bear with us and I promise the transition will be as painless as possible.

We are still looking for a new bus driver. Not only does he have to be handsome, a smooth talker, reliable and available, but he must have a Light Rigid License and oodles of community spirit. The hours required are from 8.30am to 9.30am, and

1.30pm to 2.30pm every Friday, to drive the Bowlo bus and pick up members in the morning and drop them home at the end of the day. If that sounds like you, or someone you know, please call Leanne on 0413 101 518 for more details.

  1. The all-important raffle results:

Pat won the wine… and she doesn’t drink… much! And she didn’t even offer me a tipple when I dropped her home.

Marie and Edward won Free Day passes.

And lucky Sean won the Pick-a-Prize.

June, we all send our love to you and hope that you will soon be well enough to come back to Osprey.

That’s all folks.
