Opening of Mike Macqueen Memorial Shootout

This year will be Jenny Macqueen’s final association with the Mike Macqueen Memorial Shootout which she established 19 years ago.

It was fitting that this year’s first round had a strong showing with 74 players (37 teams) for last Wednesday’s 2BBB v Stroke format.

The winners were the Mary Hogan/Lisa Marsh team (63 nett c/b) who edged out Darrie Nightingale/Gail Gore-Brown (63 nett c/b) and Fiona Smart/Sue Wilson (63 nett). Jill Brown/Sue Skelton were placed 4th with a score of 64 nett c/b.

Our NTP sponsors and winners: Tech Lab 3rd – Darrie Nightingale; Yamba Florist, Debbie May 3rd (2nd) – Lorraine Coulton; Leonie May Millinery 9th (2nd) – Fay Gimenez; Yamba Fair Butchery 10th – NA; The Shoe Boutique 12th – Janette Blair; Clovelly Fashions, Maclean 17th – Jeanne Jensen and The Wobbly Chook 17th (2nd) – Fred McDougall. Balls were awarded to 65 nett.
There were eight players in Wednesday’s nine-hole competition. Kathy Hardaker was the winner with 18pts. Kathy also won the NTP.

Friday’s 2nd Round in the Mike Macqueen Memorial Shootout, a 2 person Ambrose, had 68 players (34 teams). Thankfully, we were blessed with perfect playing conditions after a cool start to the day.

The winning team, with a score of 65.5, was the Fiona Smart/Sue Wilson combination. Janelle Carpenter and Janine Zietsch were runners up (67) while Ann Groom and Val Pate were placed 3rd with a score of 69.

There were two NTP winners: 3rd Flots and Jets – Fiona Smart/Sue Wilson and 12th Amie Rose Beauty – Jill Brown/Sue Skelton. Balls were awarded to 73. The final round, a Foursomes format, will take place this Wednesday. Good luck to all!

Conditions for the 11 ladies who played last Saturday were challenging; however, Tiffany Lee came away with a win (34pts). Tana Lowe (33pts) was the r/up ahead of Kathy Parker (33 c/b). Tiffany also won the NTP.

To enter this Friday’s Keno 2 person Ambrose qualifying round, teams must pay $5 entry at the Pro Shop before play. The Regional Final will take place at Yamba on Sunday September 18.

Finally, we’re all looking forward to next Wednesday’s Tee Off For Cancer fundraiser event! There will be a ‘Best Dressed in Pink’ prize and, as usual, there will be Mulligans on sale before play to assist both the players involved and our fundraising efforts.

Happy golfing!
