Open Night is on at McAuley Catholic College

Principal of McAuley Catholic College Grafton, Ms Kate Thomson says that after last year, it is really exciting to be able have an Open Night for those students who are starting Year 7 in 2022.

McAuley Catholic College has announced their Open Night will be on Tuesday April 27 and the College invites parents and students to come and visit the College firsthand to see how McAuley supports students to continue their learning through difficult times.

“As a community we focus on supporting our Year 7 students and providing them with a nurturing place to start High School. We make transition as easy as possible as we recognise it is a big step,” said Ms Thomson.

“We provide mentoring programs where Year 7 students have a buddy from a senior year, we ensure pastoral care programs are in place for extra support and have specialised activities in the school calendar,” said Ms Thomson.

The College prides itself on offering individual attention that can often be missed in other school settings. McAuley Catholic College offers specialised programs for students with additional learning needs, including workshops and programs for gifted and talented students.

“Our IT focus has meant every student at the College having a device. This has enabled students to continue their learning in times of College shutdown. We have received positive feedback on how this has reduced the stress on students, said Ms Thomson.

The College also monitors students’ attitudes and wellbeing on an individual level to ensure they are supported, and a strong focus on pastoral care also helped students achieve in difficult times.

“We pride ourselves on our pastoral care and have implemented wellbeing programs across all year levels. We have implemented education models that focus on positive learning experiences and character strengths,” said Ms Thomson.

McAuley Catholic College is accepting enrolments for all students who are looking to come to the College in 2022, and parents and students are welcome to their Open Night.

“If you have a child that is starting high school next year or you have a child that is looking to experience a different school setting, I encourage parents to come to our Open Night on Tuesday April 27 from 4pm,” said Ms Thomson.
