Master plan for GBH redevelopment released

The zonal master plan for the Grafton Base Hospital (GBH) redevelopment was unveiled on January 24.

Minister for Regional Health and Mental Health Bronnie Taylor joined Member for Clarence Chris Gulaptis to make the official announcement earlier this week.

Ms Taylor said the NSW Nationals and Liberals in Government are investing in the major redevelopment for GBH to modernise and improve health service facilities for the local community.

She said the release of the master plan will provide residents with an exciting opportunity to find out more about the early planning and also allow them a first-look at the design.

“The future redevelopment is the next stage of improvement works planned for GBH, following an upgrade to emergency and surgical services completed in 2012, and the new Grafton Ambulatory Care Centre completed in 2020,” she said.

“The community should have every confidence that a Nationals and Liberals Government will deliver this important project.”
Mr Gulaptis said it was an exciting day as the master plan is a critical step in moving forward with the rebuild of GBH.
The zonal master plan outlines the main areas for development on the site and allows for key clinical services to remain operational during all stages of construction.

As part of the redevelopment, opportunities to improve onsite car parking and greenspace will also be considered.
This is all part of the plan’s three zones:
· The new building zone for a multi-storey clinical services building and main public entry.
· The retention zone, which ensures existing buildings are retained.
· A future development zone, that allows for greenspace, car parking and potential future expansion.
*Please note, due to publication deadlines, more information on the unveiling of the GBH master plan, including the community’s response, will be available in next weeks paper
