Maclean Orchid Society Spring Show

As shown in “The Independent” in late September, our beautiful Spring Show in the Rocky Mouth Pavilion at the Maclean Showground, was much appreciated, by many Clarence locals, and travellers. Thanks to all our valued members, visitors, sponsors, and supporters, including our new Patron, MP for Clarence Mr Richie Williamson, who we thank sincerely for attending and presenting the winners’ awards.   

RESULTS – table of Champions as follows:   

Grand Champion: Dendrobium lindleyi var. Majus, Helen Seiver.

Reserve Champion: Phalaenopsis Charming Crystal Water, Albert Irons.

Culture Award: Vanda Gordon Dillon ‘Black Magic,’ Neil & Carol Campbell.

At the September meeting, a selection of 45 orchids, plants, and flowers were admired and assessed, with two double winners. Judges’ Choice & Popular Vote Orchid, V. Nopporn Golden Dream x V.  Doctor Anek, Terry & Penny Bird. Judges’ Choice & Popular Vote Flower, Robin Witney’s Yellow Clivia.

Next meeting is Saturday October 21, at the Presbyterian Church Hall, Church Street, Maclean.

Plants are benched by 1pm for judging, to commence 1.30pm. Lucky door and raffle prizes are included, plus afternoon tea. More information at meetings, and for workshops and other outings.
