Maclean Community Markets call for stalls

After going through a transition period following COVID, the Maclean Community Markets are calling for more stallholders to contribute to one of the region’s most vibrant weekend markets.

Maclean Lions Club President and Community Markets committee convener Denise Worrill said after changes with several regular stallholders a number of opportunities have arisen for new stalls to join the markets, held every second Saturday of the month.

“We value all of our stallholders, who for many this is their livelihood, so we would like to invite any interested stallholders to come and display their products at the Maclean Community Markets,” she said.

Mrs Worrill said there was no truth to the rumour that Maclean Community Markets will no longer be continuing in its current form at the Cameron Park carpark.

“The markets are such an important socialising aspect for many people to come to Maclean, wander around the stalls and have a chat with their neighbours and friends,” she said.

“We welcome any new stallholders who would like to contribute fabulous stalls and new life into the Maclean Community Markets.”

Any not-for-profit or community group can hold a stall at the markets for free, Mrs Worrill said.

“Community stalls are free as a donation to the community, these being schools, the hospital, and non-profit groups from around the region,” she said.

“From January 1, names of stall holders will be put in a lucky dip and one stall holder will get a free stall.”

All other stallholders are required to pay a $25 fee, which gives them access to set up from 5.30am till the markets end at noon.

All money raised from the Maclean Community Markets is distributed throughout the community by the Maclean Lions Club.

Mrs Worrill said all regular stallholders were required to have $20 million in public liability insurance, which can be arranged through market organisers.
