Let’s rebuild Lismore: We need tradies and corporate donations

Community-run disaster response network Resilient Lismore has issued an urgent plea for tradies from across Australia to help the city recover after it was decimated by unprecedented flooding.
The group’s coordinator, Elly Bird, said they also needed corporate donations and supplies.
“The 2022 Flooding Event was the most severe in recorded history and there has been extensive damage to infrastructure at all levels,” she said.
“We’re calling for help from outside the devastated city to manage the immense scale of the disaster.”
Resilient Lismore has launched the floodhelpnr.com.au website. If you were flood-affected you can request help from a database of over 1200 volunteers or offer your services to those in need.
“We’re calling out for tradespeople and skilled volunteers who can help us rebuild,”
“The community response has been incredible, and we should be very proud of what we are doing on the ground, but our volunteers are getting tired.
“We need help. We need people from outside to come in and work alongside us so that we can use our local knowledge to the best possible effect and get our recovery really moving.
“We’re encouraging people to go to our website if they have corporate donations they would like to offer us, or if they have those skills that we’re looking for. We also want to track large groups of volunteers who might want to come and do some work over the coming weeks.
“The task ahead of us is mammoth. The scale of what we’re dealing with is so difficult to get across.”

To rebuild, the Lismore community is seeking corporate donors to supply us with:

  • Gumboots
  • Workwear / work boots
  • Generators
  • Gernis / pressure cleaners
  • Truck wash
  • Industrial fans
  • Dehumidifiers
  • Respirator masks.

To rebuild, the Lismore community needs volunteers such as:

  • Handypeople
  • Carpenters
  • Electricians
  • Plumbers
  • Glaziers
  • Structural engineers.

Any volunteers that come to Lismore need to be self-sufficient and have accommodation organised in surrounding areas.
