Lawrence Croquet…with paddlers

Rain drenched the courts last week and prevented play on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday of last week.

On Thursday we had eleven visiting paddlers from Kingscliff, who were camping in Lawrence, and looking forward to their debut at croquet, however, due to the rain had to be cancelled.  Instead of playing croquet, the club shared morning tea with the travellers and enjoyed listening to their stories of places they had been and sights they had seen. They have promised to return to Lawrence to try their hand at croquet when next down this way.

Sunday was an excellent day weatherwise, and eighteen players turned up to enjoy a long-awaited game. Good scores were achieved, especially by Nancy and Tony, who both executed some very strategic moves, which kept their opponents on their toes.

Sunday highlights: Hoop to Hoop – Nancy (x 3); Lynne and Tony (x 2); Robyn, Dale and Ann (x 1); Jump shots – Esmae (x 2), Nancy, Tony and Beverly (x 1).

Croquet is played each Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday mornings commencing at 8.30am, and Monday afternoons, commencing at 4pm, at the Lawrence Golf and Sports Club. Dinner is available at the clubhouse following Monday twilight games, please advise if you are attending for catering purposes. Any queries contact Robyn Venables on 0492 889 903.
