Ladies Tag do Magpies proud

On Saturday the Magpies hosted Byron Bay in Yamba with our Ladies League Tag being the only team coming away with the points after their second win of the season. The team came home with a 38 to 0 win. Coach Darrin Heron applauded their teamwork, commitment and top defence in true Magpies spirit.

Other Magpie teams weren’t so lucky against the tough opposition of Byron Bay. Under 18s went down 6 to 22, Reserve Grade 4 to 54 and 1st Grade also taking a hard hit of 16 to 56. It was made clear in the changerooms after the games, that all teams know what they need to improve on and expect a tough week of training, because next week’s game against Evans Head doesn’t get any easier.

On a positive note, it was great to see rugby league back on the Lower Clarence with a strong support of spectators weathering the sometimes-atrocious conditions.

This weekend we travel to our closest neighbours at Evans Head with the ladies’ tag team having the weekend off. Sunday May 5 we are back at home in Yamba up against the Murwillumbah Mustangs.
