Due to Veterans’ ‘Week of Golf’ there were no Wednesday and Friday competitions held last week.
Yamba Ladies had twelve players who travelled to Murwillumbah recently to play in the Mt Warning Classic. This picturesque course was in excellent condition, especially considering the damage it incurred as a result of flooding earlier this year. Leigh Robertson was the 36-hole (Div 2) Gross winner and Glen Czarnota was the (Day 2) 18-hole Nett winner. Carol MacPherson won the Div 4 3/4 Pro Pin and Div 4 Longest Drive (Day 2). Congratulations ladies.
Last Saturday morning’s golf was a busy scene with 14 ladies playing in their Single Stableford competition. It was a beautiful morning; the course was in fantastic condition and the scores were high.
Kylie Lowe won with an impressive 42pts while Julie Campbell was r/up (39pts c/b) just ahead of Sue Wilson.
The NTP was won by Carol MacPherson.
The Saturday competition welcomes any ladies who work on weekdays and wish to play competition golf.
This Wednesday and Friday will welcome a strong field of 60 ladies who will play in the Mike Macqueen Memorial Shootout. Wednesday will be a 2BBB v Stroke round while Friday will be a 2 person Ambrose. Good luck to all involved
Some changes have been necessary regarding our upcoming golfing calendar. These include Friday, September 2 will now be the Keno 2 person Ambrose qualifying round and the 4th Round of the Single Par 4/6 event will now be held on Friday, September 9.
In Open Day news, the Maclean 2 Day Tournament will be held on September 26-27 with shotgun starts on both days. Monday will be 4BBB Stableford followed by a Single Stableford on Tuesday. It would be great to have strong support for this event so please consider entering by the closing date on September 20.
Finally, it’s almost time to break out our pink golf gear because our rescheduled Tee Off For Cancer fundraiser event being held on Wednesday, September 7 will be here before we know it. As usual, there will be Mulligans on sale to assist both the players involved and our fundraising efforts.
