Jimmy See

Ed,

A terrific letter and history from Oscar Tamsen (CVI 22/12/21) about Jimmy See and the naming of See Park after Jimmy (also known as Tse Tsai Tai).

Readers may be interested to know that Jimmy, with English journalist Albert Cunningham, also established, in Hong Kong, the very famous South China Morning Post English language newspaper in 1903. It was revolutionary at the time to publish an English language paper in Hong Kong, but it was intended to be used for See’s political purposes. It has been an important voice on Chinese politics and economy ever since.

The paper is still published and in 1987 was bought out by Rupert Murdoch.
