The next four weeks will continue to be a very busy time at South Grafton Public School.
Last month we opened up our new infants mini library for all of our classes to access. The demountable next to the canteen has been installed with suitable furniture and library resources. This will be a fantastic resource for our school.
Recently Nicola Longstaff and Meg Amos competed as members of the North Coast hockey team at the state NSW PSSA Girls Hockey Championship. North Coast were joint State Premiers which was a fantastic achievement. Meg was then selected in the NSW State side. Well done girls!
Last Tuesday week our girls hockey team played Westlawn PS in the 2nd Round of the NSW PSSA knockout competition at the Grafton hockey fields. Our team performed extremely well winning 6-0. The team now progresses to the 3rd Round and will play the winner of Bellingen PS and Hasting PS later this term. Our team showed excellent sportsmanship and skill level throughout the game. Congratulations girls!
Last moth Charlie Rouse and Thomas Palmer participated in the North Coast Hockey team at the NSW PSSA Boys Hockey Championship which was held in Newcastle. Both boys performed extremely well as part of this team. North Coast were undefeated and won the final against Polding 2-0. North Coast were state champions. Congratulations boys!
Last Wednesday we had four teams participating in a Grafton community netball gala day at the Grafton netball courts. All of our teams performed very well throughout the carnival. These gala days are organised to promote netball and give our students the opportunity to learn the game.
Congratulations to our girls’ cricket team who defeated Westlawn PS last Thursday in the 2nd Round of the PSSA State knockout. Both teams played with great sportsmanship and team spirit. Well done girls!
This week our Year 6 students will have the opportunity to meet South Grafton High School relieving Principal, Mr Scott Barnier and 2021 Year 7 advisor, Mr Khristian Lloyd. This is a great opportunity for our students as part of their transition program to have an understanding of the operations of SGHS and also ask any questions they may have in relation to high school.
