Good news for pensioners with old fridges and tellies

Clarence and Richmond Valley fixed income recipients with older style televisions and fridges should take advantage of a popular NSW Government scheme that could get them new appliances at half price, according to Clarence Nationals MP Chris Gulaptis. “So far our Home Energy Action appliance replacement scheme has replaced more than 32,600 old, inefficient appliances in 28,100 homes across NSW, but I am concerned not enough Clarence and Richmond Valley locals know about it,” Mr Gulaptis said. “The deal is pretty straightforward: eligible households get up to 50% discount when replacing their fridge or TV at The Good Guys store, courtesy of NSW Government subsidies. “This is going to save you hundreds of dollars of your annual power bill, with the bonus of also reducing greenhouse gas emissions.” Low-income, concession card holders are eligible to apply, with additional support available for energy hardship customers. A subsidised sliding scale fee covers delivery and is available across the entire state. The initiative is also available to small business. Apply online at www.powertosave.nsw.gov.au. The web site also includes information about other ways to save on your bills.
