I can think of a couple of ways of repurposing Grafton Gaol with a few small upgrades to one wing of the gaol.

Maybe housing domestic violence victims’ short term, after appointing a local security firm to police who comes and goes. Victims should be safe inside of gaol.

Or perhaps another wing for the homeless, or maybe a backpacker’s facility.

Maybe somewhere for Covid positive people who can isolate without infecting others.
