Glenreagh Timber Festival… the family friendly Festival

The Glenreagh Timber Festival is back on Saturday July 29, from 9am – 4.30pm at the Glenreagh Recreational Reserve.

Step back in time and discover the rich history of Glenreagh, nestled in the stunning Gumbaynggirr country.

This idyllic village has been intertwined with timber since the first settlers arrived in the Orara Valley over 160 years ago. From farmers to miners, the area has seen it all, but it was the need for timber that really kickstarted Glenreagh’s long and fascinating relationship with this natural resource.

This family-friendly festival supported by 12 community groups in Glenreagh and sponsored by Paradox Media, UrUnga Chainsaw & Mower, and First Super Australian Industry Fund, promises a day filled with entertainment and fun activities!

Watch the North Coast Axemen Association take on the tree climb demonstration in the woodchop.

Enjoy listening to the heartfelt lyrics and melodic voice of our headliner, The Voice finalist ‘Mick Harrington’.

Mick works as a director of Forest and Wood communities Australia advocating for timber towns and is a third-generation timber industry worker himself.

See how things were done in days gone by with interactive displays featuring wood workers, saddlers, blacksmiths and a vast array of antique machinery from all over Australia, including traction and portable engines from Tamworth & Glen Innes. There will be a number of vintage and restored cars & motorcycles as well as the retro tractors making a fabulous entrance in the festival.

Children can enjoy a full program of activities such as the popular horse rides from HWH Stables, sensory play sessions with Sprinkle & Play, face painting, pets & critters petting zoo, side show games & appearances from the Smiley Squad and so much More!

With over 70 markets stalls ranging from fresh produce, homemade condiments, baby & children clothing, wooden toys & high-quality items you will spend hours browsing through aisles.

Don’t forget to enter your motorbike into the Coffs Kobbers Kruiser Klub’s ‘Show & Shine’ supported by Country 2 Coast Motor Inn. There are over 8 categories to choose from.

The ‘Fire to Flourish’ cultural tent will host a number of cultural events such as our Welcome to Country, Smoking Ceremony & dance by the Giingan Gumbaynggirr Dance Crew by BMNAC. There will be a number of interactive workshops for you to prebook your tickets. These include basket weaving, indigenous jewellery, kokedamas and drumming with Kaya Boom.

Our working dog show is a fascinating event that showcases the impressive skills and abilities of trained dogs working alongside cattle. The show will highlight the partnership between the dogs and their handler Scott Amone in handling and herding livestock.

Satisfy your cravings with a large range of food trucks thanks to the Twilight Food Festival Coffs Harbour. This year we have even more variety of hot food, sweet treats and warm drinks including our old faithful canteen for the traditional sausage of steak Sanga.

All these amazing activities make this a perfect day out for the whole family. So come along and be part of this vibrant celebration of Glenreagh’s timber heritage.
