Flying high thanks to local generosity

It is a familiar sight in the sky above the Clarence Valley.

And every flight is made possible thanks to the generosity of the local communities who rely on it.

Recently, the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter received another donation from one of its long-term supporters the Grafton Bridge Club, who have been raising funds for this valuable service for the past 14 years.

President of the Grafton Bridge Club, Bob Northam said it is a long-standing practice for the club to support local causes, and the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter has received an annual grant on behalf of the club for many years.

In 2023, members have generously gifted the service another $1000 donation.

Regional Partnerships Officer for the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter Jennifer Dowd thanked the Grafton Bridge Club for their ongoing support and said members have donated $11000 towards the service in recent years.

“The Grafton Bridge Club contribution to the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter service keeps our Lismore helicopter flying 24/7, 365 days a year,” she said, adding all donations go towards equipment and maintenance of the aircraft.

“Local community groups in the Northern NSW region have contributed over $12000 to the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter service since January this year.

“They are vital to the support and continuation of the service.”
